Invisalign is a new technology that straightens your smile with a series of clear plastic aligner trays. It’s more advanced than traditional metal braces and makes the process of improving your teeth and your bite alignment, much easier.
Over 8 million people worldwide have used Invisalign to make their smile straighter, healthier, and more attractive.
Invisalign can address a variety of orthodontic conditions, like:
Invisalign is also an excellent cosmetic dentistry treatment since many people use it to straighten their teeth and enhance the appearance of their smile.
Your dentist begins your Invisalign journey by taking an impression of your mouth and uploading it to a computer to create a virtual model of your smile. They use that virtual model to map out all of the steps that your teeth need to take in order to shift into better alignment in your mouth.
Once they have your alignment path mapped out, the Invisalign lab uses it to fabricate your series of aligners. Each of your aligners represents a different step on the path that your teeth need to take to reach alignment.
You can begin wearing your first set of aligners as soon as they come back from the lab. You wear your aligners every day for at least 22 hours per day, though you should try to wear them longer, if possible.
After two weeks of use, you move on to the next aligner in your series. You continue this process of switching aligners every two weeks until you finish your entire series, at which point your smile will be beautifully straight and healthy.
Invisalign is a newer orthodontic system, so it has several advantages over traditional metal braces when it comes to straightening your teeth.
For example, Invisalign crafts your aligners from smooth, flexible plastic, which is much more comfortable in your mouth than the rough metal wires and brackets of braces. And unlike braces, your aligners are also removable, so you can continue to brush and floss your teeth as usual.
